this very moment

This very moment is the perfect teacher, and, luckily for us, it's with us wherever we are.
— Pema Chödrön (b. 1936 )

A variation of the traditional merry-go-round design—when a row circles the temari, crossing the equator, north to south to north etc., in one continuous stitch [for each color / band]. I have not made a merry-go-round style temari since I (literally) first started (see here and here), and thought it the right design for this quote. I left the 3rd band (the one that reaches closest to top and bottom) asymmetrical (one band instead of two mirrored ones) because it reminded me of the visual representation of a heart beat.

Thread wrap in dark taupe beige; S16 division in perle #8. Embroidery in medium and dark blue, silver green, sea green, very dark brown, and lilac. The quote by Pema Chödrön is in the bell box along with brass rings that make a quiet traditional rattle. Circumference: 10.375 inches / 26.5 cm; diameter: 3.3 inches / 8.43 cm. Completed 31 August 2012 (no. 147).

Sold to benefit Kiva.org.
