the threshold of your mind
The teacher who is indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.
— Khalil Gibran (1883–1931)
This is a "kiku around kiku" design, switching colors and weaving extra rows onto alternate points that creates an optical illusion. A "how did you do that?" kind of temari.
Thread wrap in brass yellow; S12 division in metallic gold. Embroidery in chocolate brown and dark rose pink. The quote by Khalil Gibran is in the bell box along with brass rings that make a quiet traditional rattle. Circumference: 10.75 inches / 27.5 cm; diameter: 3.42 inches / 8.75 cm. Completed 1 November 2012 (no. 201).
Sold to benefit Kiva.org.
